Solar
Solar power converts the energy from the sun into electricity using photovoltaic (PV) solar panels. Solar farms do not create any waste or emissions while operating. We operate 19 solar sites combined for over 18 MW. The power is sold into the grid through contracts with the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO). We have partnered with local communities to develop and operate our rooftop and ground mount projects.
Lily Lake Solar Farm
One of the first large-scale solar projects in Ontario, the 10 MW Lily Lake Solar Farm sits on 140 acres in Selwyn Township and was completed in 2011.
We have partnered with local farmers to have sheep keep the grass short and provide a space for a honeybee farm. Part of our environmental commitments include the preservation of wetlands and tree planting.
The solar farm is operated through Lily Lake Solar Inc.
Rooftop solar projects
We operate three rooftop solar projects located at the Kinsmen Arena, Asphodel-Norwood Community Centre and our Ashburnham Garage for almost one MW. These projects were completed in 2016.
The rooftop projects are operated through Peterborough Solar Projects Corporation.
Groundmount solar projects
We operate fifteen 500 kW solar projects in Bancroft and Haliburton for a total of 7.5 MW. Each project is located on three acres of privately owned land. These projects were completed in the spring of 2019.
We operate the sites through Peterborough Solar Projects Corporation.
